Life Drawing Workshop

During October local artist Rosemary McKimmie conducted 3 life drawing workshops. Each session focused on drawing a life model with a variety of mediums. The class was well attended and everyone enjoyed learning how to use new mediums.

Linocut Classes

On October 3rd and 6th, Miranda Burton, professional artist ran Linocut workshops. Attendee’s learnt how to create strinking, bold images via this print-making technique.

Kid’s School Holiday Painting Class

During the September school holiday the Art & Craft Group ran a painting class for Strathewen kids! Under the guidance of Barbara Hauser, the kids painted a myriad of animals including butterflies, unicorns, chickens, elephants, dogs and cats. Everyone had a great time experimenting with paints!

Watercolour Workshop with Rosemary McKimmie

On July 22, 29 and August 5th local Strathewen artist Rosemary McKimmie lead a workshop for the Art & Craft Group using watercolour paints. Rosemary provided tuition to the group on how to use watercolour medium to create still life paintings.

Portraiture Workshop with Barbara Hauser

On 25 March, 1 + 8 April, and 13 and 20 May local artist Barbara Hauser held portrait painting workshops for the community. There were some beautiful paintings produced under her tuition.

Children’s School Holiday Painting Workshops

During the April 2017 school holidays, artist Barbara Hauser guided a group of Strathewen children on how to paint dragons and fairies using acrylic on canvas.

Painting Workshop @ Dunmoochin Artists Residence

On Saturday 3rd December 2016, Strathewen residents visited the beautiful artists colony ‘Dunmoochin’ in Cottlesbridge for a 4-hour gouache painting workshop. The class consisted of a demonstration on how to work with gouache and a light lunch. Those who attended were able to select a comfortable spot amongst the beautiful landscape at Dunmoochin for the duration of the class.


Still Life Oil Painting Workshop with Lisa Nolan

In October 2016, local artist Lisa Nolan held a still-life painting workshop for the Strathewen residents using oil paints.
